1. About the Library

The MIU Library on the 3rd Floor Main building which maintain a collection of million volumes of books and scholarly journals in support of academic activities of the university. The Library was first established at MIU in 2003. the collection has been wanting and most of them is being acquired as a process of donation. There was quite small room for tiny collection. It is not until in August, 2007 that previous tiny library has been expanded and renovated to develop facilitation and collection relating to library. The facilities of between Reading and Reference room have been divided to manage and organize library effectively in addition, the tiny Multimedia Room has been made in library in order for students to implement visual and audible education. Through this renovation of the library, Library service can be more accessible to the student and staff in MIU University. Our university library is to organize service that it not only collects, manages, preserves archives books and other forms of material but also provide this collection of information, which is to be the result of human academic achievement, and research efforts, to faculty and students efficiently and accurately. The mission of our library is to be implemented with the provision of available collections in various formats such as academic, research journal, full-text databases, e-journals to support research and academic activities of the University. To achieve its mission to serve as the heart of the university, MIU is continuing to put in efforts to support the research functions and to provide academic information with efficiency and effectiveness.


2. Facilities and Collections Information

 Stacks
  • About 10,000 volume of books are shelved in stacks on the 3rth Floor.
  • Shelved books in stacks

  •      Philosophy(100), Religion(200), Social Science (300), Language(400),
         Pure Science(500), Applied science(600), Arts(700), Literature(800),
         History(900), General(000), series.
  • All materials are arranged by DDC(Dewy Decimal Classification system).
  • All material are operated in open shelves system.
  • Users must personally go to the bookshelves and find books after verifying the collection status through catalog stand in the reference room.
  • When you do not know the bibliographical information regarding the material, you may browse the shelves by call number.
  • Users may check materials out of th library with students I.D out borrowing at Circulation Desk


  •  Reading Room
  • Reading Room is where without materials, and is the place to study freely with borrowed materials or individual books.
  • Various individual study exam preparation can be done in reading Room.


  •  Matters to be attended
  • Silence must be observed while students are in the Library - No loud talking
  • Eating and Drinking is No ALLOWED while in the library
  • please keep to public decorum.(All noises including cell phone noises, etc are prohibited
  • please do not inflict damage to any fixtures and equipments.
  • please do not leave any personal items in general reading rooms.


  •  Reference Room
  • Materials compiled for available access, extracted from various information sources in catalogue method, and organized by subjects, types of materials and publication period, etc. to find specific information, knowledge, or fragmentary facts.
  • Reference Room and Stacks have collections of up to 10,000 volumes of reference materials.
  • Type of reference materials: Dictionaries, Encyclopedias, Year books, Handbooks, Biographics. Subject Dictionaries, Summary Reports, Statistical Reports
  • It is operated in open shelves system for easy access by users: and reading is only allowed in Reference Room.
  • New reference materials are shelved in Reference Room.


  •  Periodical Room
  • The collections include domestic and foreign scholarly journals, popular magazines, and corporate reports and publicity materials; and they are arranged in current Periodicals Room.
  • In the Current Periodicals Room, the latest issues are shelved to provide users with current information promptly, arranged in English alphabetical order within each class number.
  • Multiple copies and infrequently used titles separately shelved in Periodicals Repository stacks and can be requested for use only during working hours.
  • Periodicals Room is operated in open shelves system, and all materials can be read and copied in serial publication Room. To use the materials, search for material in the online catalogue to find location information and call number and go to stacks personally to find material and read. Librarian on duty provides further assistance on the search and use of materials.


  •  Multimedia Room
  • The facility is established and operated to visual and auditory education for students.
  • The facility holds 10seats exclusives for multimedia use.
  • The type of collections are Movie and lecture, academic, music and language.
  • User must personally go to request items to librarian after verifying the current status of the material.
  • Materials can only be used within the library.


  •  Archival Documents Collection
  • They are materials preserved after 2002 among MIU Library collection and contain material collected and managed by MIU university
  • our collection activities are oriented towards supporting the research needs of University of MIU staff and students, but as part of this goal we also aim to preserve records of historical significance to the wider community.
  • For preservation and management of the original, bibliographical introduction has been produced.



  • 3. Material Donation Guide

    Donations form an important part of our collection development so thank you for considering us.  Material Donation Guide
  • The Library accept donation for the collection where they are within the scope of the university Library collection and provided the Library can process these with existing resources.
  • numberous materials collected by our library have to support users' research activities. However, as academic materials increasing tremendously cannot all be purchased with limited budget, we are accepting donations from organization and individuals. Thus, we welcome anyone who is willing to donate materials and funds we ask for supports and interests.


  •  The prime consideration for any donated material is:
  • Relevance, immediate or potential. to teaching, research at the University.


  •  Other typical consideration are :
  • Level appropriate to a University readership
  • currency of content
  • English language usually preferred
  • Ability to balance the collect's coverage of a subject



  • 4. Borrowing and returning

     Borrowing
  • After searching for materials on the MIU Library and locating them from the bookshelves, users may check-out books with an identification card at the circulation Desk
  • check-out are limited to materials housed in periodical stack.
  • Associates of MIU who are not regular member(Teaching staff, students) of MIU should refer to borrowing
  • Classification No. of Books Period
    Professors(full-time, chair-, foundation) 6 books 30 days
    part-time lectures, staff members, and teaching staff from experimental schools, researchers, postgraduate 3 books 14 days
    Undergraduate students, exchange students. foundation students 3 books 7 days

     Matters to be attended to During Check-outs
  • Proxy check-out is not allowed : check-out is permitted only with one's identification card.


  •  Returning
  • Book can be returning at the book Return stand in the library.
  • For books whose expiration dates have not passed. 2renewals are allowed per book.
  • Overdue fines of 200 Tugrug per book are imposed from the first overdue date.
  • Please pay overdue fines at circulation desk.


  •  Renewals
  • Each material may be renewed up to two times
  • Renewals begin from the day of their request. Therefore, in order maximize the length of check-out, renew item on the date.
  • Renewal of materials is not permitted of one has unpaid overdue fines or overdue materials.


  •  Lost and Damage of Books
  • Lost and damaged books must be reported at the circulation Desk and must be compensated with identical items.
  • When the compensation can not be made with an identical item, it should be substituted with an item of a similar subject and of comparable value.
  • Compensation period for domestic and foreign books are 10 days and 30 days respectively, and overdue penalties are imposed within this period.


  •  Book Request
  • It is a service that allows users to personally request for purchase materials not owned by the libraries.
  • Our library will allow us to notify the requester whether or not being able to purchase books and at the time of acquisition.
  • This service does not apply to users without purchase request authority(graduated students, students on temporary leave of absence, those with overdue books, and etc)
