How to apply to MIU

1. Mongolian Students

Qualifications:

To be qualified for admission, an applicant must meet this following requirement:

  • All of the subjects on National Entrance Examination score higher than 60%
  • Requirements:

  • National entrance examination result certificate(for domestic applicants)
  • English Proficiency Exam
  • Copy of National Identification(or passport)
  • Certificate of high school graduation (or a proof of a relevant education level)
  • Official high school transcript(s)
  • Complete application form
  • Four 3x4 photos
  • Application fee
  • Proof of prizes, honors, or merits (optional)
  • Recommendations from either his or her high school teacher or organization head (optional)
  • National entrance examination

    All universities in Mongolia require results from the National Entrance Exam. Prior to applying for MIUs entrance exam, students should refer to the chart below regarding each departments required exams:

  • In the case where two applicants' final exam results are the same, the high school transcripts may be considered.
  • In the case where there are enough admittees from the first round of admission, the second admission examination may be held with the same conditions as the first admission examination.
  • Notification of Admission Offer

    Only after all the required exams and documents are received and evaluated, the successful applicants will receive notices from the admission Office. Admission offer will be announced from MIU within two days after the English Proficiency Exam.

    Required Examination for all applicants:

    MIU requires all the faculty members and the students to use English on school campus. On the designated date, all applicants are required to take an English Proficiency Exam and have an interview that will evaluate the individuals competency in English. This test is designed to assess the English language level of the applicants. If an applicant cannot complete the English Proficiency Exam at MIU for a legitimate reason, private sittings for the written exam will be permitted under strict supervision. However, applicants who passed the written test outside of Mongolia should arrive early enough to arrange a date and time for the interview with an administrator before the registration period.

    Foundation Students

    Students who applied from the Language Education Institute and received acceptances from MIU dont need to take the English Proficiency Exam but submit all the necessary documents. However, they are required to be interviewed on the same designed date as other applicants.

    Application Fee

    Application fee ($50) is mandatory and is NON-REFUNDABLE for each student.
    Application fees cannot be deferred and are valid for only one application year.

    2. International Students

    MIU welcomes applicants from all around the world and seeks to have a community of diverse racial and ethnic groups. International applicants (from Russia, China, and other countries) should also take the entrance exam and provide the necessary documents before the deadline.

    Requirements:

  • Complete admission application form
  • Certificate of High school graduation(or a proof of a relevant education level)
  • Official high school transcript(s)
  • Copy of valid passport
  • HIV/AIDS test
  • Four 3x4 photos
  • Application fee
  • Proof of prizes, honors, or merits (optional)
  • Recommendations from either the high school teacher or organization head (optional)

    VISA process:

  • 1. International applicants who received acceptance admission offer from MIU must request an invitation by fax, email or phone. Although the request for the invitation will be processed after an admission letter is sent to eligible applicants by mail, it is strongly recommended that students contact the admission department by fax, email or phone to start the visa process ASAP.
  • 2. The invitation letter will be only forwarded to the nearest Mongolian embassy or consulate in the applicants country.
  • 3. Within three or four weeks after requesting the invitation, study permission will be provided to students from OUTSIDE of Mongolia. Students can contact the university by email.
  • 4. Within 3 days after students arrival in Mongolia, passports MUST be handed in to the administration of MIU to register with the Office of Immigration, Naturalization and Foreign Citizens Agency in Ulaanbaatar; otherwise students are liable to pay fines.
  • * International applicants, please contact MIU agents in your district or contact us about any matters such as application process, entrance exam and visa process etc.

    Notes: All deadlines are subject to change. Any application received after the deadline will be processed for the next available term.
