- All of the documents scanned and submitted must be originals.
- If the original documents are not sent prior to the applicant’s course start date, the admission will be canceled.
- High school certificate and transcript must be translated into Mongolian and have public notarization when documents are not in Mongolian. Once students are admitted to MIU and arrive in Mongolia, all international entrants will need to translate their high school certificate and transcripts (under the Admission Affairs office’s guidance). This is to successfully register all foreign students into the Mongolian Ministry of Education database. The translation cost for each document vary from 7,000 MNT to 30,000 MNT. Public notary cost 500 ~ 800 MNT for each document.
- A certificate of registration, transcript, and graduation from schools outside of Mongolia must have an English address, an international phone number and a fax number from the department where the document was issued by the foreign school.
5. Requirements : Things You Should Know Before You Apply
5-1. Eligibility & Qualifications
- A foreign applicant must have a high school diploma or its equivalent document form an accredited institution. (A foreigner refers to a person who holds non-Mongolian citizenship.)
- Short-term education abroad, continuing education, and long-distance learning programs are not acknowledged in lieu of a certified secondary degree or diploma.

Application documents will NOT be reviewed if any of the followings occur:
- Some of the supporting documents are missing.
- Incorrect information is found in the application or supporting documents.
- If a third person sits the entrance exam or skill test instead of the applicant.
- The applicant or his/her parents are illegally residing in Mongolia.
- The applicant is found ineligible due to deficiencies in areas of academic preparation.
- The applicant has past criminal record.
- Local foreign applicants who have graduated from Mongolian local high school should also follow the same application procedure as international applicants.
5-2. Admission Process
- Applicants must input correct personal and contact information in their application form. Modification of the application is not permitted once you have submitted your application form.
- If the application documents are not in English and Mongolian, they must be translated into English and Mongolian and notarized by an official notary. In regards to the Mongolian translation of high school certificate and transcript, applicants can visit and translate the documents with the Admission Affairs office staff member. The translation cost for each document vary from 7,000 MNT to 30,000 MNT. Public notary cost 500 ~ 800 MNT for each document.
- If copied documents are submitted, the applicant must bring and submit the original documents to Admission Affairs office within 3 weeks of your application submission date. Submitted documents will only be returned after graduation.
- If there is any fabrication on the submitted documents, the admission will be cancelled.

In general, the selection procedure will be in three stages:
(1) Application Document Screening(2) Interview
(3) MIU Entrance Exam - Media Communication (MC), Music Education (ME) and English Education (EE) program applicants are subject to Skill Test.
- Only those who successfully pass the application screening stage will receive an opportunity to take an interview.
- For interviews, foreigners residing in Mongolia need to come to the University. For those living abroad, an online SKYPE interview will take place.
- Only those who successfully pass the interview will be qualified for the entrance exam. Those who fail to attend the interview process will be terminated from the admission process.

- Application forms submitted without application fees will be excluded from the screening process. Application fee is non-refundable.
- Once you have been granted admission, you are NOT allowed to apply to other schools in Mongolia. If you get accepted to more than two universities, you must select only ONE institution. Enrolling in more than two schools will result in the withdrawal of acceptance from both schools.
- MIU does not disclose information related to admissions decisions.
- Elements which are not written in this admission requirement will be decided by the admissions committee of MIU. The admissions staff reserves the right to require additional documents from applicants to clarify the eligibility of the applicant or authenticity of the submitted documents.
- Certificate of the applicant’s entry to Mongolia has to contain the entire list of the applicant’s entries and exits. If any false documentation is found, either by intention or the applicant has two passports, the applicant will be disadvantaged or admission will be cancelled.

- Please keep all receipts in hard copies and submit them to Admission Affairs office when you arrive in Mongolia.
- Please pay all financial transaction fees so that the full application fee is received by MIU, otherwise your application will be automatically removed from the admission process.
7. Tuition and other course fees and MIU Global Residence

All freshman (1st year) students are required to enter and live in the Global Residence for the first year.
- MIU believes that the first year of university is crucial in building a successful university life and that the MIU Global Residence will support all freshmen to swiftly adjust to campus life and develop their four-year academic plan.
- If you are a primary caretaker of a family or have a serious illness, you may write a free-style petition that stipulates your reason. Once the petition is submitted to admission@miu.edu.mn, the Residence Committee will review the petition and decide on the applicant’s status.

8-1. Applying for (S) Visa
- This visa is for any international student enrolling in LEI, Undergraduate and Graduate programs at MIU.

Required Documents (You do not have to submit the listed documents twice. Please submit the required documents listed in 4. Checklist for international applicants on this page. Below is the list of documents for the S visa application for your reference.)
- Completed online application form attached with photo and the receipt of application fee
- Certificate of high school graduation (or proof of a relevant education level)
- Official high school transcript(s)
- Copy of valid passport
- HIV/AIDS test result(s)
- One recommendation letter in English from a high school teacher or employer
- Application fee: Depends on the Mongolian embassy/consulate in your country. Please check with the Mongolian embassy/consulate in your country regarding the S-visa application fee.
- After the submitted documents are checked and examined by Admission Affairs, the student’s documents will be delivered to MIU lawyer and the visa process will be held by the Immigration Office of Mongolia.
Note: Sending visa invitation code to the Mongolian embassy/consulate in your country takes 2-4 weeks.
8-2. Certificate of Alien Registration (Once you arrive in Mongolia)
- Applicants who are granted admission should visit the Mongolian Immigration Office (with MIU lawyer) to apply for an Alien Registration Card within 3 days from the date of entry to Mongolia.
- If the applicant does not inform the arrival date in advance and do not register to the Mongolian Immigration Office, the applicant has the full responsibility in paying the penalty of 2,500,000 MNT.
